McDonald's SUCKS!

McDonald's patrons

This is a MUST read article, McDonald's is doing damage  control and "beefing up their image: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12356994/.

OK, I may be a bit biased, but I don't see how a better image is going to make McDonald's food any healthier?!

Their powerful lobbiest may be able to effect lawmakers and keep lawsuits from being able to blame them for Obesity, but that does NOT mean that their food isn't responsible for much of the Obesity epidemic.

McDonald's, you can plaster R Gym all over your "restaurants" but that doesn't make them a health club. Showing Ronald McDonald with ripped abs eating a Big Mac; doesn't make it healthy food. And shoving your crap down our throats doesn't help get this nation any healhier.

Maybe you can't be sued for contributing to Obesity with your disgusting food, but perhaps you can be sued for misleading the public and false advertising!?! R Gym? Please, give me a break!

In the picture that accompanied this story it looks like 8 out of 12 people clearly shown are OBESE--great photo with the R Gym logo behind it--clearly proves MY point! It 'ain't healthy folks' no matter how much Ronald McDonald wants to pontificate that it isn't his fault that we are a fat society.

I beg to differ Ronald! Here's how people in a gym look:

See the difference? NOT sitting down. NOT eating. NOT obese...and clearly, NOT at McDonald's!

and this just in,

---McDonald's refuses to pay for public service Obesity education ads to warn consumers of the dangers of eating their food. They are going to focus on "just telling their story". And what a fairy tale that story is!

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-060417mcdonalds,1,1112946.story?coll=chi-business-hed&ctrack=1&cset=true

McDonald's Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jim Skinner rejected a call for a company-sponsored educational program warning of the health risks of eating the chain's foods.

The CEO added the chain's sales momentum is building, especially its breakfast business.

``We're just going to tell our story,'' Skinner told reporters today at McDonald's headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois. The company is proud of its food, safety record and suppliers, he said.

OH really? Perhaps he should read my essay "The $45,000 Happy Meal" about my then, 7 year old daughter's accident in one of their playlands! 7 days hooked to a morphine pump, 5 surgeries under general anesthesia and a year of rehab to determine if her arm was going to grow and function normally! As it turns out, so many children are injured at McDonald's that if they fail to report each injury to the federal gov't, they face a $1,000,000 dollar fine. But hey, they should be proud; after all, they offered to "pay for UP TO $500 in reasonable medical expenses" for my daugther's injury.

Yes, they have a food and safety record they should be proud of--that is if their goal was to RUIN the health of humans everywhere.

McDonald's sucks! My husband works there and is required to work 6 days a week and he is a supervisor of 6 stores. He has worked for this franchise for one year with no vacation. The former franchise gave him three weeks and that was a management position. Funny, an employee can not leave a comment at the McDonald's website. He/she must go through their manager/supervisor/owner-operator. Gee, like they are really going to help. This company prides it self with family values but they don't value the hard working, low paid, "Hitler" victims that put the money in "Hitlers'" pockets. Did I mention that this owner operator has three houses, an RV that costs 500,000. and goes on vacation all the time? But yet we must remain as slaves. I could go on but I would then have to write a book. DO NOT WORK FOR MCDONALD'S EVER. SAVE YOURSELF.

Francesca, They can take pictures now, or many years from now and there will still be overweight people because of the crap food that McDonald's serves.

I also have to disagree with you that you do not have to purchase their food in order you use the R Gym or playland areas, they are for patrons use ONLY, and I have to take huge exception to your statement that they are "a relatively safe place to take your kids" 10 years ago my daughter was taken to a playland in a McDonald's by a mother at a sleep over, and she pushed off of the slide by a non-patron, un-attended minor, both of which are against the rules, but despite the fact the other kid shouldn't have been their, McDonald's doesn't supervise or monitor the play area it is "at your own risk". She fell only 3 inches to their "safe" padding and her arm badly broke. After 7 days in the hospital hooked to a morphine pump, having to endure 5 surgeries under general anesthesia, months of physical therapy, ONE year of charting her growth to see if the arm was growing. Our medical bills were around $45,000. McDonald's kindly offered to pay for "UP TO $500 in "reasonable" medical expenses.

If you think they care about you, your child, your health or your safety, you are kidding yourself.

I have witnessed first hand the compassion of McDonald's and it leaves one hoping for place where "lovin' it" is a mutual feeling.

Regards,
Julia

Forgot to mention - the place has only been open a month. You expect a difference in the people who live in that neighborhood within the first week?

I think it would have been more hypocritical for the photographer to shoo all of the overweight people out of the way, "we don't want any fat people in our picture, gotta make ourselves look good." At least they are showing real people who really live here.

Do you have kids? Have you ever tried to climb through the rat tunnels at the old-style playgrounds in order to spend time with them? I honestly don't believe the R Gym is aimed at adults. It is focused on encouraging children to become more active. When we go, we don't even bother acting like we might buy something. We walk in and go straight to play. I know I definitely worked off more energy, adult though I am, running up the levels in the main part of the R gym with my son than I would have bruising my knees in a rat tunnel.

Yeah, there are parks. No one said the R Gym was replacing anything, except hopefully the human rat tunnels. But parks get rained out, and the R Gym is a relatively safe place to take your kids to work off some energy.

No one said you had to buy the food. I don't like McDonald's food, but I personally am glad for the R Gym. I don't expect it to be a miracle maker, I consider it an additional outlet for my kids to expend energy.

Fast food playgyms were never intended for adults. They were always for children. Unfortunately, until now they were always sized for the 2-4 year old range.
