Fighting Free Radicals is Important in a Healthy Diet
Antioxidants are one of the most important benefits of a healthy diet, in order to provide some degree of 'protection' to the cells against attack. Like rust on a car from the 'oxidation' process, so to do free radicals attack the bodies' cells and can cause damage. Here's more details from the makers of Welch's Grape Juice --
It seems antioxidants are appearing everywhere these days... associated with everything from skin creams to red wine to chocolate bars. And there's good reason for all the hype. These sought-after bioactive compounds, which are naturally found in certain foods, appear to work hard to help protect your cells from the damaging effects of unstable molecules in your body.
There's a name for these unstable molecules, and you've probably been hearing a lot about them too - they're called free radicals. Not only are you exposed to them from external factors like pollution, UV rays and cigarette smoke, but your own body produces them as part of your normal metabolic function (such as digesting your meal or during exercise).
An abundance of unchecked free radicals definitely isn't good news for your body, because they may cause a serious chain reaction of damage in your cells. In fact, the National Cancer Institute states, "free radicals may play a part in cancer, heart disease, stroke and other diseases of aging."
Luckily, research suggests that you may be able to help offset some of the negative effects of these free radicals by eating a diet rich in natural antioxidants. Great sources include vegetables, fruits and 100% fruit juices. How do you know which are the best sources? A good rule of thumb: the deeper and darker the color of the produce, the higher the antioxidant capacity or power.
Recommendation: It is clear that antioxidants are extremely important to maintaining the body's health, not to mention slowing the aging process down. Understanding the importance of antioxidants, it is necessary to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables - the best source. As most people don't consume enough fruits and vegetables, The Health & Wellness Institute recommends adding a supplement that will add nutrients, antioxidants. This particular supplement has a Berry Blend that is made by juicing 9 different grapes and berries, with the powdered nutrient concentrate that remains, put into capsules for easy consumption. That's a good amount of antioxidants from several sources, which will support good health better than just any one Vitamin or nutrient from one source. The name, Juice Plus+. Diet and exercise can help reduce the risk of degenerative diseases like heart disease and stroke, diabetes and cancer. Learn how you can benefit from adding Juice Plus+® to your diet. Juice Plus+® is the most thoroughly researched nutritional product in history.
